  • The primary responsibilities of the Court Clerk are to record, file, and maintain proceedings of the District Court. The Court Clerk keeps summaries of court actions in an appearance docket; maintains case files; collects court fees, fines, costs, assessments, and forfeitures, and distributes or expends collected monies.
  • Cleveland County Court Clerk currently sends out approximately 7,000 to 10,000 jury summons every year. 
  • The Court Clerk assembles and applies for the budget for the District Court of Cleveland County every year to the Administrative Office of the Courts. The Court Clerk assembles the Court Clerk budget and submits it along with documentation to The Cleveland County Budget Board and the Excise Board.
  • Cleveland County is a Budget Board County. The Court Clerk serves on this board along with the 3 County Commissioners, the County Clerk (property), the Treasurer (taxes), the Assessor (property appraisal), and the County Sheriff. The Budget Board is tasked with ensuring fiscal responsibility of each elected official with county funds.
